This shop for Serena Linley in
Knightsbridge has a 40 sq.m ground floor retail space with a rear courtyard
garden and an upper mezzanine area arranged around a double height void.
The shop sells a range of bespoke
lifestyle and well-being products including different soaps specifically
created for hard or soft water for specific cities. At mezzanine level is skin
testing equipment to collect data required for creating bespoke soap products
for individual clients.
One of the main concepts of the interior was to
create a streamlined, paired down yet warm and welcoming interior using natural
materials. Hence the use of solid Douglas Fir timber throughout for the new
joinery and Pierre du Bourgogne stone slabs from Provence on the floor and wall
cladding.
The timber has been treated with a lye and white
soap finish to achieve a paler ‘soapy’ look and provide protection to the wood.
The joinery has been designed to showcase each range of products within top lit
display boxes of varying sizes with mirror backs. At low level are cupboards
for storage with pull out drawers above for displaying larger groups of
products.
A number of lighting effects
have been achieved ranging from low and high level recessed lighting, floor
lights, step lights, display lighting and tiny fibre optic star effects to the
ceilings. We also designed a bespoke chandelier of carbon filament light bulbs
hung on traditional cloth flex.
“Your work an absolute triumph, thank you so, so much!”
