This 175sq.m apartment is arranged over two floors of a Grade 2 listed warehouse overlooking the River Thames. It was originally converted by developers in the mid 80’s and all remnants of these works were stripped out during this project.
The project involved totally re-working the upper level living areas to become totally open plan with a new kitchen and refurbishing the lower level bedrooms and bathrooms.
The kitchen joinery was all purpose-designed/made incorporating a bright red Corian topped island unit, mirrored splashbacks and multicoloured striped cupboard fronts. Bone coloured Corian worktops extend 11 metres all the way through the open plan sitting room to the windows overlooking the Thames. These house vast amounts of storage and help to exaggerate the size of the space. Mirrored recesses help to enforce this illusion.
Lighting was key to get right – as the sitting windows are south facing and look directly out over the water it was important to neutralise the contrast/glare by using hidden recessed lighting to wash down over the internal surfaces.
The existing bathrooms were poorly laid out previously so were totally stripped out and rearranged wi
th new fittings. The main bathroom was totally clad in green slate tiles while the ensuite was clad using black mosaic tiles throughout.
